Nearly 30 years after the murder of 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey, new DNA technology is being used to re-examine dozens of items from the crime scene, offering fresh hope in the long-unsolved case.
Her older brother, John Ramsey, said the testing will cover both previously examined evidence and items from the scene that have never undergone forensic analysis.
“It’s been a slow march, but they’re progressing,” Ramsey said after meeting with Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn.
Speaking at CrimeCon, an annual convention for true crime enthusiasts, Ramsey praised Redfearn’s leadership, saying his sister’s case is “no longer a bunch of files airing on a dusty shelf.”
JonBenét Ramsey’s body was found in the basement of her Boulder home on December 26, 1996.
