If you didn’t know already, Allen’s used a food colouring made from crushed beetles.
This form of food colouring is quite popular amongst confectionery products, formally known as carmine.
As an alternative, the company will be using a colouring agent derived from beetroot and paprika which will make the lolly 100% plant-based.
So, good news for vegans, you can eat their jelly beans now!
