Matilda, a 10-year-old girl, is among the 15 people killed in the Bondi terrorist attack, the deadliest mass shooting Australia has experienced in 29 years.

She was attending the Chanukah by the Sea celebration on Bondi Beach to mark the first night of Hanukkah when two gunmen opened fire.

On Monday morning, Matilda’s language teacher, Irina Goodhew, launched a GoFundMe for Matilda’s mother, which raised more than $35,000 within its first four hours.

“I was Matilda’s language teacher, and I knew her as a bright, joyful, and spirited child who brought light to everyone around her,” she wrote. “Yesterday, while celebrating Hanukkah, her young life was tragically taken. Her memory will live on in our hearts.”

The fundraiser has since surpassed $460,000 in its first day, with more than 7,800 people donating.

Matilda’s mother, whose name has been withheld at the family’s request, reshared a 7NEWS post on Monday evening, writing simply: “My little angel…”
