Daylong strikes will hit Victoria’s regional train lines in the lead up to Christmas, as the public transport union fights for better pay.

The Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) has announced that trains to Bendigo will be the first to be hit by the series of 24-hour strikes starting next week.

Bendigo line trains will be affected by the strikes from 12AM on Wednesday, December 11, as will trains on the Swan Hill line.

Staff on the Ararat, Maryborough and Ballarat lines will strike on Thursday, January 2, while trains to Traralgon and Bairnsdale will face major delays on Tuesday, December 17.

The Albury, Shepparton and Seymour lines will be targeted on Wednesday, December 18 with the Warrnambool and Geelong lines hit on Thursday, December 19.

V-Line staff will also stop working for six minutes at the timetabled departure time of all trains leaving Southern Cross on December 16.
