Four people have been killed after two planes collided in the air above a recreational flying spot in Mangalore, north of Melbourne.
The planes were have said to have collided at about 4000ft above sea level, before crashing in a paddock.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene at around 11.30am, to the reports of a light plane crash.
“Two occupants in each aircraft have died at the scenes,” Victoria Police confirmed.
All four people are yet to be formally identified.
A first plane had crashed into a paddock near Seymour with at least one person on board near a flight training school. The second plane was found in Avenel by the Country Fire Authority.

At Avenel, southbound lanes on the Hume Freeway have been closed.
