Melbourne’s roads are the worst in the country, with the top crash hot spots being located in Victoria.

Plenty Rd in Bundoora is the worst offender, being the most common street in the country for accidents.

Springvale Rd in Glen Waverly AND Springvale Rd in Springvale managed to take out second and third place respectfully with an leverage of eight vehicle claims per week.

Head of AAMI’s motor claims, Anna Cartwirght, told the Herald Sun that the worst areas are usually major arterial roads that tend to intersect with smaller local streets.

“When you combine this with heavy traffic and frequent stopping, it is a perfect recipe for vehicle collisions,” she said.

“Plenty Rd in Bundoora has several lanes of traffic in both directions and feeds into many other major roads in Melbourne.

“Springvale Rd is no stranger to the spotlight, the location at Glen Waverley has been one of the worst spots for collisions, since first topping our list seven years ago.

“With the southern stretch of Springvale Rd at Springvale now coming in at number three, what hope do local drivers have?”
