Meghan Markle has made her first public appearance since ‘Megxit’ by visiting a women’s shelter in Vancouver.
The Duchess spent time meeting volunteers and workers, and can be seen in a photo shared by the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre facility, which is located in one of Canada’s poorest suburbs.
“Look who we had tea with today!” the photo is captioned.
“The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, visited us today to discuss issues affecting women in the community.”
Duchess Meghan made a surprise visit to @DEWCVancouver today — a safe space providing support, necessities and meals to over 500 women and children every day. The centre opened in 1978 and provides a safe space for women and children – as well as counselling, hot meals and basic necessities, such as feminine hygiene products and toiletries.
Markle’s visit to the centre was reportedly unexpected.
