Myki is going mobile TODAY (Thursday March 28) for Android users and this is how you can get it working.

The new system will allow you to top up on the go, touch on and off with your phone, know your balance in real time and view your travel history.

If you don’t have it already you’ll need to download the Google Pay app and set your card up.

The home page will have a ‘Public Transport Victoria’ message, then select ‘Australia’ and follow the steps to create a myki card (choose your fair type, how much money you want to put on etc)

When you’re ready to tap on, hold the back of your phone to the terminal and aim for the blue dot that will pop up on your screen!

If you’re having issues it could be because your phone doesn’t have a NFC chip so make sure you check that out before paying for anything (you can suss it out by going to settings > connected devices and see if NFC is listed).

It’s also important to make sure you’re using the latest Android operating system 5.0 (Lollipop), and you’ll need to be 16 years or over to use Google Pay.

Head over to the PTV page if you have any more questions.
