A woman is still in hospital four days after a driver is alleged to have run a red light and collided with another car, which left five people injured.

Victoria Police said the the crash happened at about 10.55pm on Saturday, February 15, after a white Nissan X-trail travelled south on Wantirna Rd allegedly at “a high rate of speed” before it allegedly ran a red light at Boronia Rd, hitting the driver’s side of a white Ford Fairmont that was in the intersection.

Sergeant Michael Aston said the force of the impact pushed the Ford into a light pole before both cars ended up significantly damaged.

An investigation is now underway.

Several police units and the CFA joined Ambulance Victoria on scene.
