Three residents have been evacuated from a milk bar fire in Melbourne’s north.

The triple zero worker could hear loud bangs in the background as several calls were made about the fire in Barry Road, Campbellfield, about 4.35 am on Thursday.

Firefighters evacuated three residents from the rear of the building, bringing the blaze under control in about 30 minutes. A cause is yet to be determined.

The MFB’s Andrew Dixon said the family “were extra lucky – it could’ve turned out to be a bad outcome.”
