A blue-and-gold macaw has gone missing from Melbourne Zoo after not coming back from her daily flight.

Melbourne Zoo said the 19-year-old parrot was released during the afternoon and most likely looked for a refuge once it became dark.

The missing bird might have roosted in a tree overnight.

Her mate, a three-year-old macaw, returned to the zoo.

Keepers are expecting the bird will make her way back to the zoo but are appealing for the public’s help to get her back home.
