Westfield Doncaster is set for a stunning redevelopment.
Planning Minister Richard Wynne will approve the $500m masterplan, allowing the shopping giant to lodge a planning permit with Manningham City Council.
“Melbourne is already the nation’s retail capital and this major expansion will cement its reputation for the years to come,” Mr Wynne said.
The massive redevelopment will include a 14 storey gateway, a two-storey premium shopping complex, thousands of new car parking spaces and a larger bus interchange.
Scentre Group’s Stewart White said the first stage of the upgrade would focus on “high-end speciality fashion, dining, entertainment, and health and wellness.”
“This exciting upgrade will deliver a best-in-class customer experience, including new and vibrant dining options and a landscaped outdoor area,” Mr White said.
“So whether that’s catching a movie, entertaining the kids, browsing the latest designer fashion trends or meeting friends for a meal, our customers will soon be able to enjoy more of these activities.”
If approved it will take three years to complete and is expected to attract shoppers from allover the world.
