An enormous, 19-story multi-tower development is set to reshape the Melbourne suburb of Ringwood.

The landmark project is set to smash height records in the suburb and is located at 28-30 Maroondah Highway, the former site of Chippy’s Outdoors and Ringwood’s Iceland skating rink.

The Herald Sun is reporting the space will include three massive towers that will house a mix of residential apartments, a hotel, commercial space, shops, restaurants and a public plaza.

The final plans will have to wait to be approved by Maroondah Council, who initially approved the project last year, but is considering amendments under the new owners.

Mayor Rob Steane praised the “extremely high quality and integrated design response” and said it offered “a significant contribution to diversity of housing and accommodation in this area of Ringwood”.

Proponents of the development hope it will clean-up Maroondah highway and boost the economy, while others are opposed to the idea of high-rises in the suburbs.
