As the Victorian Government continue to remove level crossings, many people have found themselves in some way inconvenienced.

Now, it’s Cheltenham’s turn… and it’s going to be a doozy.

Charman Road is now closed between Blagdon Street and Station Road. If you already use the busy road, you’ll be detoured via Nepean Highway, Bay Road, Reserve Road and Balcombe Road.

It’s not great news for locals who use public transport. Bus routes 600, 811, 812, 922 and 923 have been disrupted. Also, there will be no pedestrian crossing either, which has called for specific shuttle buses to get people across the road.

Buses will also come into play again when they replace trains on the Frankston line. The affected stations are between Moorabbin, Frankston and Stony Point and will run until the last train Sunday 16 February.

The road closures have the potential to impact several businesses, including those that have already been bought out by the Kingston Council for the sake of building new access paths.
