An Adelaide man has begun trying to sell off a stockpile of 5,400 toilet paper rolls to supermarkets after being banned from selling them online.

9News reports that the man approached a local grocer, who wanted to remain anonymous, to try and shift some of his stockpile.

Online platforms, including eBay previously cracked down on people seen to be price gouging on essential items, taking down sales and auctions with prices that were seen to be exorbitant.

However, the enterprising/exploitative Adelaide man saw the empty supermarket shelves as an opportunity to turn some loo tickets into cash.

The news comes as a range of essential items remain out-of-stock across supermarket shelves with one supermarket boss warning South Aussies that the situation isn’t going to get better in the short-term.
