Woolworths has today announced it will be installing screens across its checkouts to help customers and staff enforce social distancing guidelines.
The supermarket giant, which will stay open across the country during the Coronavirus crisis, will be placing plexiglass screens in all stores across the country.
Woolworths managing director Claire Peters says the move aims to uphold public health and safety.
“We know it’s not always easy to maintain social distancing at our checkouts, so we’ve started installing plexiglass screens as an additional safeguard for our team members and customers,” Peters said.
“We thank our customers for their understanding as we work through these challenging times together.”
Customers are also being advised to use their trolley as a distance guide and are advised to follow all floor markings at checkouts.
Additional security guards have also been announced to protect staff and customers’ wellbeing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
