Party guests at a Melbourne wine bar have been linked to five cases of Coronavirus.

A birthday party at Eaglemont Cellars and Wine Bar in March 14 may also be why staff members tested positive to CoVid-19.

The owners of the wine bar said a significant number of customers who were there on the night for a party had flown over from the UK, just one day before 14 day quarantine laws were put in place.

The wine bar also held a St Patrick’s Day event on March 17, before venue restrictions were brought in.

In a statement on social media the bar owners said the owner and other staff members started showing symptoms around March 21.

On March 25, a number guests showed symptoms before staff tested positive on March 29.

The owners said all staff had been in quarantine since first exhibiting symptoms.

“There were no symptoms or signs of anything amiss until Saturday 21 and we took action straight away,” they said.

“We have always put our patrons, staff and their families and local community safety at the forefront of everything we do.”

The wine bar is now closed.
