Hay Fever season is here in full force, and we just can’t deal!

Lately, everywhere I seem to go, there are scores of people clutching their wilted tissues while sneezing and sniffling away. 

If you’re running out of kleenex and you’re sick of having puffy eyes and a runny nose, these six drug-free hacks might help you beat the hay fever blues…

Use Vaseline

Smear a small amount of petroleum jelly, like Vaseline, inside your lower nostrils. This helps trap the pollen and stops it from reaching the inner lining of your nose. It’s not the most glamorous look, but you’ll thank us later.

Eat Honey

Natural honey is packed with bee-gathered pollen, which desensitises your body to other pollens!

According to What Allergy, the idea is that bees pollinate all the local grasses and plants and so their honey contains really minute, tiny particles of the very allergen that causes your hay fever.

It works a bit like immunotherapy but you would need to be eating about a tablespoon three times a day if you can. 

Drinks lots of water


It’s believed that histamine is naturally produced when we’re dehydrated. So make sure you drink lots of water and keep hydrated.

Eat Pineapple

It’s time to head down to the shop and stock up on pineapples.

According to BodyandSoul, pineapple is a rich source of bromelain, an enzyme with strong systemic anti-inflammatory effects, which helps decrease mucosal inflammation and nasal congestion.

Stay Indoors

If all else fails, stay indoors as much as possible. Especially when the pollen count forecast is high, and on windy days or after thunderstorms.
