Just days after the Australian Capital Territory legalised marijuana for personal use, Perth is set to be home to a landmark cannabis study.

The world-first research will take just over two years and aims to see if cannabis cam “improve quality of life for people with dementia,” according to Sunrise.

University of Notre Dame Researcher Dr Amanda Timler told Sunrise:

“We think cannabis is going to help ameliorate behavioural signs and symptoms we see from dementia,” she said.

“It’s one of those medications that will treat a number of symptoms compared with typically being diagnosed with dementia and taking a number of different drugs.”
