Feeling stressed? Food can actually help you feel better when you’re under the pump.

Cosmo has shared a list of meals and snacks you should chow down that are packed with the right stuff to get you feeling on top of things again.

OATMEAL WITH BERRIES AND WALNUTS
Thanks to the Vitamin B and C of the berries and oats, as well as the Omega 3 in walnuts, this is a great snack to boost you up when you’re feeling down.

WHOLE GRAIN CRACKERS WITH NUT BUTTER
With complex carbs and a good dose of protein, this is a tasty snack that will level out your blood sugar, which in turn will keep your emotional state in a good place.

VEGGIES WITH RAW CHEESE
Slap some raw cheese – preferably the kind from grass-fed cows – on top of some veg, like broccoli or bok choy, for a snack that will relax your nervous system and pack you with protein for a day full of energy.

HOT WATER WITH LEMON
This is a simple one, but a goodie for cleansing your system. It’ll move waste out of your body and make sure you start your day with a clear head.

SALMON SUSHI WITH BROWN RICE
With the Omega 3 from the fish and the complex carbs of brown rice rather than white, this is a tasty snack or meal that will boost your serotonin levels and keep your belly full.

CASHEWS
These delicious nuts contain magnesium and tryptophan, both of which help you relax. They also contain a lot of zinc, which can help boost your immune system in times of stress. Plus, who doesn’t love munching on these while studying or working?

DARK CHOCOLATE
Chocolate is often the first thing people reach for when they’re feeling a little down, but the dark variety is better for you and also has more antioxidants. Pick chocolates with 70 per cent cacao or more to boost your levels.

GREEN OR CAMOMILE TEA
Go for decaf if you can – these herbal teas contain properties that lower stress and anxiety levels, and will make you feel relaxed.

KALE SMOOTHIE
Get blending with kale or any other leafy green – these drinks will provide you with antioxidants, fibre and energy for your day, and help relieve tension both mentally and physically. If you can’t deal with the bitter vegetable taste, pop in a banana or some berries.

SWEET POTATO WITH COCONUT OIL
Root vegetables are packed with antioxidants and can boost your immune system. The sweetness of the potato, coupled with the coconut oil, can also reduce your craving for refined sugar.

Take all these hints on board and you’ll be relaxin’ and eatin’ like our good friend Honey Boo Boo in no time.
