Subway is trialling a new menu and, not gonna lie, the move is attracting more heat than the Hot Chilli Sauce they want to pull.

The fast food joint will introduce a bunch of new fillings to about 100 stores, however, they’re trading off some fan faves – including Old English Cheese, carrots and pickles – to do it.

The new menu includes a vegan ‘smashed falafel’ sub, rye bread with an ancient grain topping as well as gluten-free wraps, Newscorp reported. Streaky bacon, carved turkey and leg ham will also be included as well as ‘improved’ diced steak and chicken strips.

Their social media has since gone into overdrive.

As part of the trial, the following will be swapped out…

Bread – Honey Oat

Protein – Ham, Turkey, Diced Steak, Chicken Strips, Seafood

Cheese – Pate Triangle, Swiss cheese, Old English Cheese

Salads – Iceberg Lettuce, Carrot, Pickles

Sauce – Hot Chilli Sauce, Sweet Chilli Sauce, Thousand Island Dressing, Tomato Sauce

…for this …

Bread – Gluten-free wrap, Rye bread

Protein – Leg ham, Carved Turkey, Diced Steak (improved), Chicken Strips (improved), Homestyle Chicken, Smashed Falafel, Streaky Bacon

Cheese – Natural Cheddar, Crumbled feta, Chopped Cos, Sun-dried tomato

Sauce – habanero hot sauce, blue cheese dressing, pesto mayo, smoky BBQ sauce, tzatziki, buffalo sauce, seeded mustard, cranberry relish, tomato chutney

Dry stuff – ground peppercorns, ground rock salt, herb seasoning, zesty spice

Subway has not responded to questions regarding how long the trial will go for.
