Over the years Australia has presented the world with a stack of culinary delights.

From vegemite to tim-tams, through to pavlova and the meat pie, we have been proud to share our specialty foods with the rest of the world.

And now it appears everyone else is finally catching up with an all time fave when it comes to sprucing up the humble hot chip: chicken salt.

The salty yellow powder that in most cases doesn’t actually contain any traces of chicken (Chicken salt is quite often vegetarian or even vegan) has been catching on in the UK and the US after an Adelaide based spice company started exporting overseas.

So if the trend continues, maybe some Aussie entrepreneur will look to export potato scallops overseas next?
