A new Twitter account started by former US President Donald Trump has been immediately shut down by the social media platform.

The new account, titled @DJTDesk was set up earlier this week in a bid to circumvent a ban placed on the banished President.

The account was set to link through to a new website called ‘From the Desk of Donald J. Trump’ but copped a ban for ‘violating Twitter rules’.

Trump’s latest account ban comes after Facebook upheld their ban on the former President, pointing to Trump’s role in inciting and legitimising violence during the US Capitol riots.

Trump was reportedly enraged by the decision to uphold the ban, releasing a statement calling the decisions by Facebook, Twitter and Google a “disgrace” and an “embarrassment”.

The decision continues to leave Trump without a mainstream way to promote his new website via social media.
