The Australian Open copped a blow when it came to the amount of bushfire smoke that blanketed the CBD, and unfortunately, our luck might not come back up anytime soon.

As everyone is well aware, the federal government is bracing itself for the impact of the deadly coronavirus and the declaration of a global pandemic. So much so, that the federal government is considering cancelling major events which attract big crowds if the disease entered our country.

And yep, that includes footy games.

The virus is currently contained in Australia and there has been no person-to-person transmission here, but there are plans in place to ensure we are ready.

Health Minister Greg Hunt said that cancelling major events is a ‘last resort’, with events such as the Grand Prix expected to go ahead as planned.
