Meet the royal baby doll that’s meant to honour the royal baby – without being the royal baby.  Anyone else confused?

Well according to toymaker Zapf Creation, it all makes sense when it comes to getting around the strict rules to prevent manufacturers cashing in on Prince George’s birth.

The German company has released the doll, which wears a Union Jack embellished romper suit, in ‘honour’ of the newest royal – but promises it isn’t specifically a ‘Royal Baby George’ doll, but rather a doll named ‘George’.

A Zapf spokesman explained the difference, telling metro.co.uk:

“This isn’t specifically [a] royal baby George doll, rather an addition to the Baby Annabell Brother range, named George.  This is a reflection of George no doubt becoming a popular boy’s name. The royal doll features a beautiful regal-themed outfit.”

So now that’s been cleared up, the only question is – will you be putting in your order for a Prince George doll?
