Any new mum returning to work is likely to have some reservations.
Can you have it all both professionally and personally? Without guilt for either leaving your child in someone else’s care OR not feeling you can commit 24 hours – 7 days a week to your job?
This new mum had no idea what to expect when she was called into her first job performance review since returning from maternity leave.
At first she was subject to a number of questions that made her doubt herself and reveal her inner insecurities – is she in the office the same number of hours as before, what are her weaknesses, how did her time off affect her work performance…
But what happens next is everything.
We wish all workplaces would be this encouraging and understanding and women and new parents in general try to find a new work-life balance and perform to the best of their abilities in all areas of their life.
I’m not crying! You’re crying!
So to all you mums, dads, carers etc out there, chin up.
We may be our own worst critics at times, but if you are truly trying to the best of your abilities then the people around you will hopefully notice!
