Vanity Fair found itself in hot water today off the back of an interview it printed with our very own Margot Robbie.
The profile, written by Rich Cohen, managed to insult both Robbie and Australia at the same time.
Of all the questions he could have asked Robbie he went into graphic detail about her sex scenes and even described what she looked like from behind as she walked away from him.
Cohen then described Australians as people who, “still live and die with the plot turns of soap operas in Melbourne and Perth, still dwell in a single mass market in Adelaide and Sydney.’
And people are pretty pissed about it. The article has been labelled sexist and patronising and readers have been taking to social media to vent their frustrations.
Did the author of Vanity Fair’s Margot Robbie article watch The Simpsons Australia episode and think it was a documentary?
