A Current Affair host Tracy Grimshaw has said that if it weren’t for a helmet, a recent horse riding accident would have taken her life.

The 54-year-old television personality was rushed to hospital with head injuries after the accident earlier this month, and returned to the screen this week.

On her first night back on the show, she urged viewers to wear a helmet when horse riding (and the same rule goes for cyclists, too).

“I got off comparatively lightly, mostly due to wearing a helmet,” she said at the end of the show.

“I have no doubt I would have been dead without it.”

Grimshaw was knocked unconscious from the fall.
