Yesterday, everyone was wondering why Jessica Mauboy uncharacteristically failed to show up at her Melbourne Cup performance, where she was required to sing the National Anthem.

Minutes before she was due to start, Mauboy was a no-show at the stage, which meant that her back-up singer Nadia Aya was forced to step in.

Mauboy, who had already been introduced by the track announcer, left Flemington Racecourse without making a public appearance.

According to reports, the shoes she was wearing when she was set to go on stage were from David Jones, and reportedly a MYER representative told Jess, “You need to change the shoes you’re wearing to be shoes you can get from MYER.”

A statement provided by Jessica Mauboy’s team hinted that a wardrobe malfunction or issue indeed was to blame.

It read: “There was a lot going on yesterday and there was miscommunication with her styling team, unfortunately by the time it was resolved the call time had been missed. “Known for her professionalism and her incredible work ethic, Jess is deeply apologetic and devastated that she disappointed fans and racegoers and wasn’t able to perform at such a prestigious event.”

Mauboy also took to Facebook to apologise to her fans…
