The World Record Egg.
If you’re not across it – well, until now, there wasn’t very much to it at all.
The egg first captured the world by storm with it’s arrival to Instagram – where it received millions of likes and followers.
The account, ‘world_record_egg’ posted a photo of an egg with the caption, “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this 🙌 #LikeTheEgg #EggSoldiers #EggGang”.
Since that day, the account has posted four more photos of this egg, each with new cracks developing.
The latest post, showed the egg now looking a little like a football, with the caption, “The wait is over 😅 All will be revealed this Sunday following the Super Bowl 👀 Watch it first, only on @hulu. #EggGang #WeGotThis #TalkingEgg”.
The egg is now being sponsored by Hulu, a streaming service in the US, and rumours were flying around regarding what could be inside the egg.
During the lead up to the Super Bowl, the Instagram account finally cracked over the 10 million followers mark, which is so ridiculous, it’s actually hilarious.
Media questions that loom tonight:
1. What’s gonna be inside the World Record Egg when it cracks tonight?
2. What does Hulu have to do with it?
3. Will Netflix come out with some sort of surprise?— JMKTV 🇰🇪🇺🇸 (@JMKTVTweets) 4 February 2019
So, with bated breath, the world waited for this absurdness to be over.
And this is what we got…

The World Record Egg has a story to share with us about the importance of Mental Health.
We took a long time to get here – and we’re glad that such an important topic is getting all of this attention, and awareness.
And while the internet is in shock, no one can really be that mad at the situation.
The World Record Egg reveal on @hulu was tremendous. Shout out to the #EggGang creator for using their 15 minutes of (anonymous) fame/massive reach for good. #TalkingEgg

That world record egg reveal was everything. Working in the mental health field myself, I fcking love that type of exposure for a very prevelant problem in the world. Social media should not dictate your quality of life.
