We love a good Disney movie.
And so does Keira Knightley – especially considering she is on the media circuit for Walt Disney Pictures’ The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.
But it seems that not ALL Disney movies are allowed in her house.
In fact, her three year old Daughter Edie is banned from watching certain movies where Knightley’s feminist stance isn’t portrayed on screen.
That means Cinderella is a hard no.
She explained her reasoning while on The Ellen Degeneres show recently.
“Because she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her. Don’t! Rescue yourself. Obviously!” Keira said.
“And this is the one that I’m quite annoyed about because I really like the film, but Little Mermaid [is banned, too].
“I mean, the songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man. Hello!
“But the problem with The Little Mermaid is I love The Little Mermaid! That one’s a little tricky—but I’m keeping to it.”
However apparently Ellen’s own Finding Dory is a popular pick for Edie.
As is Frozen and Moana. So, at least that’s something.
Would you ban Disney movies in your house for similar reasoning?
