It’s two years ago that we lost probably Australia’s greatest ever front woman, Chrissy Amphlett.
Born Christine Joy Amphlett in Geelong in 1959, Chrissy teamed up with guitarist Mark McEntee after meeting at a concert at the Sydney Opera House in 1980.
Divinyls gained immediate attention with Chrissy’s wild onstage antics while wearing a school girls uniform with ripped stockings which drew crowds to the city’s huge pub music scene of the 1980’s.
They released a host of hit album’s during the 80’s and 90’s including an oversea’s hit with “I Touch Myself” (1991)
Chrissy and Mark broke up the band in 1996 before reuniting in 2006 after being inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame.
Chrissy also had a successful stage career playing the role of Judy Garland in The Boy From Oz.
