He’s the French foodie who turned into one of Seven’s biggest stars.
But My Kitchen Rules host Manu Feildel has revealed he was almost cast a judge on MastrChef.
Manu said that he was part of the audition process of the cooking show back in 2009 and made it to the final six alongside fellow chefs George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan. However, the chef missed out on the role as the producers of the show thought Australia wouldn’t like his French accent.
Manu said he felt sad at the time of losing out on the gig and told the Daily Telegraph he was ‘’talking Gary and George on the phone while the auditions were happening, and I was quite excited about the prospect of hosting a brand new show.’’
He continued to say ‘I was upset for a short while, because at the time you think what have I done wrong?’
However, just a few weeks later he got the call to shot the My Kitchen Rules pilot, and the rest is history!
