💥Crazy Little Thing Called Love💥 . On October 5th 1979, exactly 40 years ago today, Queen released "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" as the first single from The Game album. . ✨Written by Freddie Mercury, Mercury, as a tribute to Elvis Presley, the song peaked at number two in the UK Singles Chart and became the band's first number-one single in the US, remaining there for four consecutive weeks. . ✨As reported in Melody Maker 1981, Freddie composed the song on the guitar in just five to ten minutes while lounging in a bath in the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich during one of their extensive recording sessions. Freddie took it to the studio and presented it to Roger Taylor and John Deacon. The three, with producer Reinhold Mack, recorded it at Musicland Studios in Munich. The entire song was reportedly recorded in less than half an hour. Mack said that Freddie rushed into the studio to record it "before Brian could get there!" . ✨Having very little guitar knowledge, Freddie played rhythm guitar while performing the song live, which was the first time he played guitar in concert with Queen. . ✨Freddie's name is in the lyrics when he sings "Until I'm ready" and the band sings "Ready Freddie?" . ✨The style of the song was described by author Karl Coryat as "rockabilly" in The Bass Player Book. . ✨Legend has it that John Lennon was inspired by this song to go back in the music business. . ✨Since its release, the song has been covered by a number of artists including Dwight Yoakam, Michael Buble, Robert Plant, Diana Ross, Maroon 5, and many others. . 👉P.S. I can't stress how much I love the song and the video. It still blows my mind how diverse and brilliant Freddie's songwriting skills were. He never got stuck in one area. 🙌 The video has always reminded me of Grease and I think Freddie's leather jacket look and his dance moves are just PERFECTION 😍. . #FreddieMercury #CrazyLittleThingCalledLove #leatherlo
