While it may be the race that stops a nation, let’s be honest… it’s the fashion that really stops us in our tracks each Melbourne Cup!
From the good to the downright strange, everything and anything goes when it comes to race fashion.
After the black and white frocks of Derby Day, there was plenty of colour popping trackside.
And it seems spring was a big inspiration with pastel blues, pinks and yellows proving a favourite with the fillies.

However, it was red that really made it’s mark for 2016.
Jennifer Hawkins led the crowd in a red jumpsuit and matching wide-brimmed hat at the Myer tent.
She was joined by scarlett ladies Havana Brown, Bec Hewitt and former Bachelor contestant Anna Heinrich in the striking hue.
Nadia Bartel was also quick to make her mark with a fitted sky-blue dress, flowing sleeves and delicate gold-leaf crown.
However it was Rob Mills who quickly earned the award for most memorable getup with his eclectic jacket.
Covered in miniature golden cups, office pundits are already betting on how long till the singer falls victim to the light-fingered, tipsy race goers!
