Residents of a Southbank apartment building have been evacuated after a fire erupted on a 19th story balcony.

Fire crews responded to multiple calls about a fire in the Whiteman Street complex just after midnight.

It is believed one apartment was severely damaged after the fire sprinklers were activated.

The fire was controlled within 33 minutes, and the building’s residents were allowed back in shortly after.
