Year after year, we see the ‘Married At First Sight’ applications open, urging those looking for love to apply. But, is it all a farce?

According to Woman’s Day, most of the members of this season’s Married At First Sight did not actively apply for the show.

The publication claims that the majority of the brides and grooms were ‘scouted’ by producers, apart from one.

Matthew Bennett, also known as the ‘Virgin’, was reportedly the only person to audition for the show without being approached by casting agents prior.

It is believed the rest of the cast were spotted at events or on social media, and invited to participate.

A source close to the magazine has also claimed that Matthew was ‘fast-tracked’ through the casting process as producers were adamant that an adult virgin would be ‘ratings gold’.

In August 2018, the publication alleged that casting agents for the show were “overheard scouting for ‘husbands’ at Sydney’s Coogee Pavilion” less than two months before filming was scheduled to begin.

Married At First Sight continues tonight from 7:30PM on Channel Nine.
