If entertainment writer Roger Friedman is to be believed, the promoters of the two-weekend Desert Trip festival in October invited Led Zeppelin to no avail.

In his Showbiz 411 column, Friedman writes, “They turned down $14 million to play the ‘Oldchella’ Desert Trip shows this fall with Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, The Who, Roger Waters and Bob Dylan… My sources say that Jimmy Page was all for it, but Robert Plant wouldn’t agree to any kind of reunion. ‘Jimmy went crazy,’ one source told me. ‘He really wanted to do it.'”

Zeppelin’s last show was a 2007 reunion gig at O2 Arena in London, with Jason Bonham on drums.

Like Waters and the Stones, The Who have scheduled a show of their own around the Desert Trip dates. They just announced October 6th at the Santa Barbara Bowl.
