The new season of The Voice US this  year will feature a new judge lineup – Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys — as well as a new group of advisers, some of whom may surprise you.

US Weekly reports Miley has chosen Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Joan Jett as the adviser to her team, but that’s no surprise.  Miley inducted Jett into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, and considers her one of her biggest inspirations and influences.

You may be surprised, though, that Adam has chosen former Van Halen lead singer Sammy Hagar to advise his team.  Why?  A source tells US Weekly that Adam is “a big fan of classic rock.”  Not only that, but last year, Adam and Sammy hung out together in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and sang together at a local bar.

Another surprise: Grammy-winning singer and actress Bette Midler will be working with Blake Shelton this season.

Alicia Keys’ choice of Charlie Puth isn’t so unexpected.  In addition to being a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, Charlie’s worked behind-the-scenes writing, producing and arranging for other artists.

A special preview episode of The Voice will air after the closing ceremonies of the Olympics August 21. The real season 11 premiere happens Monday, September 19 in the U.S.
