Fitness guru Jillian Michaels has said that getting plastic surgery as a teenager was life changing.

During an interview with PEOPLE, the former Biggest Loser trainer admitted that she had a nose job at just 16 years old, but that it provided a much needed confidence boost for her after being bullied throughout her childhood.

“I’ll be honest, it did change my life,” she said.

“Not to say you should let your physicality define you, but there are some things that can make people feel really insecure… So if here is something you want to fix that allows you to feel a little bit more confident, I support it.”

Michaels, 41, stressed that she thinks it’s important that people go under the knife for “the right reasons”.

Back in 2010, she told Parade that as a teenager, her nose was “the size of a softball” and that she was regularly teased by her peers, to the point where she had to move schools.

“I had my nose done. I felt much better about myself,” Michaels said in that interview.

“Plastic surgery is a very personal decision.”
