Ed Sheeran has met Paul McCartney and duetted with Elton John; now he’ll get to work with another British rock institution: The Rolling Stones.
Ed will be the Stones’ special guest June 27 when the legendary band performs at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. “Opening up for the Stones on a one off gig and I’m very excited,” he writes on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Ed’s the latest star to join the lineup for NBC’s charity Red Nose Day broadcast Thursday. According to a series of posts on Instagram, Ed will duet with Kermit the Frog.
The Red Nose Day fundraiser works to help the lives of children living in poverty in the U.S. and in some of the poorest communities around the world. It’s already a hugely popular event in the U.K. that has raised more than $1 billion for charity over the last 30 years.
The broadcast, airing at 8 p.m. ET Thursday night in the U.S. will include musical performances and comedy sketches — and at some points, a combination of the two. Other musicians on board include One Direction, all four Voice coaches, Coldplay, Keith Urban, John Legend, and possibly Sam Smith. Sam is currently unable to sing due to vocal cord surgery, so it’ll be interesting to see what his contribution will be.
