Ed Sheeran just received the first-ever Official Number 1 Album Award from Britain’s Official Charts Company, and he’s become the first solo performer to headline a show at London’s Wembley Stadium…and Elton John gave him the seal of approval.

The Official Number 1 Album Award was given to Ed to celebrate his album X [Multiply]’s return to the number-one spot on the British charts this week. The prize was also launched to coincide with the inaugural Friday global release date and the beginning of the 60th anniversary year of the Official Albums Chart. Ed was given the gold-plated trophy at Wembley ahead of his big gig.

Ed Sheeran was joined onstage by Sir Elton John on the first of three gigs at Wembley Stadium. They performed “Dont Go Breaking My Heart” together.
