Actor David Duchovny is officially adding musician to his resume after unveiling plans to release a debut album in May.

The X-Files star admitted he was eager to start recording material with Weather, a band he formed with two friends, a year ago, and now he has completed work on thr trio’s first project, Hell or Highwater, for the label ThinkSay Records.

He says, “Making this record is a dream come true, but I never had this dream – it’s still a shock when I think about how all this music happened. What I do know is that I feel these songs represent the truest expression that I’ve ever been able to achieve and I look forward to sharing it with everyone.”

Duchovny will promote the album with a few musical appearances on TV, but he has no plans to head out on tour.

He tells USA Today, “I’m lucky enough to be able to book some really great TV spots and get exposure that a normal new artist, which is what I guess I am in this field, wouldn’t be able to get.

“I’m learning what it’s like to sing with a live band, how close to be to the mic, learning about singing, period. It’s a journey of discovery for me. I hope that I get to discover certain things before the audience does, so it’s not too painful.”

Duchovny is no stranger to new career paths – he recently became a novelist after releasing his first book, Holy Cow, in February.
