A woman mourning the death of her mother has received a condolence card with ‘happy birthday’ written on it by a fellow co-worker.
Just days after Shelley Clarkson lost her mum, she received a beautiful condolence card from her colleagues. The messages were thoughtful and heartfelt, except one.
“To Shelley, hope you have a good birthday my love from Zoe.”
The woman’s son, Callum Howden, shared a photo of the bungled message on social media.
“My nan recently passed away and my mum received sorry for your loss card from her work, and look at this, you had one job Zoe.”

The tweet has since gone viral with more than 2,000 retweets and just under 20,000 likes.
One follower shared their own story: “A friend of mine at work had a stroke and almost died and I sorted a card to take to her. One person wrote ‘All the best’ because they thought it was a leaving card.”
Another added: “As someone who probably gets 6 or 7 cards a week to sign for various birthdays, leaving, condolences etc I have found myself in a similar situation all be it nothing as bad as this although I do always check the front of the card now just in case.”
Have you ever made a mistake this bad?
