Chris Martin raised money for pediatric cancer research and paid tribute to Prince at the Chords 2 Cure benefit concert on Sunday.

The Coldplay frontman performed the Purple One’s song “Raspberry Beret” alongside teenage band A-Side. The first verse of the song was sung by A-Side member Jaxon Blumenthal, who was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer at age 11.

Before they played the song, Martin told the audience that the teenage members of A-Side hadn’t previously heard of Prince. “I said, ask your grandfather, he’s probably my age,” Martin joked. He added that the band learned “Raspberry Beret” in only three hours.

Prince passed away last week at age 57.
