Former test cricketer Michael Slater was reportedly booted from a flight after an argument with friends escalated to involve cabin crew.
He was removed from the Sydney to Wagga flight before it departed on Sunday afternoon.
Slater was reportedly “yelling” and “swearing” while arguing with two female friends as they boarded.
Witnesses said Slater then headed to the toilet… and stayed there.
Requests by cabin crew for Slater to come out were met with his refusal.
It’s understood that at this point, staff were forced to call airport security on board as the plane couldn’t take off.
The flight was delayed by half an hour.
Slater later issued a statement: “I did have an argument with two friends while boarding a flight to Wagga and I apologise for the inconvenience this caused other passengers on the flight”.
Slater played 74 tests and 42 one-day internationals for Australia.
