A couple of Aussie brothers have a story for the ages.

The lads were fishing with a mate on their inflatable rubber ducky when a sea marlin launched itself out of the water and into the boat.

“The fish has just launched, surprisingly in front of them and come over the bow of the boat and into the boat with them,” Rick Knox, NSW Ambulance Acting Inspector said.

It caused some damage to both of the brothers, but after a wrestle they managed to return the monster fish to the ocean.

Quentin Peck, 46, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

“A spear went into his arm and crushed him up against the side of the boat. It broke some of his ribs and one of his ribs has gone into his lung and tore the tendons out of his arm,” Stanley Young from the Wooli Fishing Charter said.

He’s expected to make a full recovery.

Older brother Nathan meanwhile, suffered a deep cut to his shoulder – but before he got stitches popped into the local bowlo to grab a beer!

“Next thing you know a bloke with a patched up back, a bandage on his back, comes into the club to have a beer and settle his nerves,”  local Tony Walsh explained.

The trio can now lay claim to one of the best Aussie pub stories of all time.
