For anyone who grew up in the 1970s and 80s, gird your loins, a documentary on your favourite tandem-riding trio from Cricklewood is in the works.
Yep, we’re talking a full, feature-length doco on Graeme Garden, Bill Oddie and Tim Brooke-Taylor, aka The Goodies.
A crowdfunding campaign is in full swing – and all three Goodies are fully on board.
The filmmaker team behind the campaign explained why now’s the time to strike.
“Chances are, if we don’t tell this story now it will never happen,” they said on Indigogo.
The buzz around the film has kicked off now in time for the 50th anniversary of the show next year.
“Everyone loves a milestone anniversary, so we have to aim for it. If we miss it, the opportunity could be lost.”
In a video pitch for the doco, Goodie Bill Oddie was far more eloquent.
“It’s about bloody time,” he said.
Filmmaker Kim Leggatt said they chose the crowdfunding route as going through traditional channels would simply take too long to make the 50th anniversary deadline.
“Our goal means we can get this film shot and edited to a point where we can secure funding from distributers,” she said.
The documentary promises be packed with classic Goodies moments, plus never-before-seen footage.
It’s due in November 2020.
