The Beach Boys are set to launch a new single and announce new album details: 'That's Why God Made The Radio', to be released June 1.

The founding members of The Beach Boys, one of the world’s most legendary bands, have reunited for a global 50th Anniversary celebration, including a new album release, a major international tour, and commemorative catalog releases. Today, The Beach Boys announce details of their new studio album, That’s Why God Made The Radio, to be released June 1. View the exclusive sizzle reel below:

Beach Boys Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks recently completed their recording sessions at Los Angeles’ Ocean Way Studios for That’s Why God Made The Radio, the band’s 29th studio album (including 2011’s The SMiLE Sessions), the first in decades to feature all of the band’s surviving original members. Produced by Brian Wilson and executive produced by Mike Love, the album’s 11 new songs illustrate The Beach Boys’ unique and evocative West Coast story with the band’s timeless signature sound.

The album’s lead single, “That’s Why God Made The Radio,” showcases The Beach Boys’ soaring harmonies in an upbeat, beaming ode to music’s radio champions around the world.

“Radio was my whole education,” says Brian Wilson. “Chuck Berry, Rosemary Clooney, The Four Freshmen, Phil Spector, Little Richard... To hear ‘That’s Why God Made The Radio’ on the radio would be a thrill beyond belief, it really would. It would be a thrill beyond belief.”

“I got a lot of my appreciation for all of the creativity in the world, in terms of music, through the radio,” says Mike Love. “For all of us who grew up in the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and beyond, the radio has played such a huge, important part in our lives. When we were kids, we’d sneak out of the house and go and sit in Brian’s car and listen to the local radio stations on his car radio.”

The album’s other new songs include “Think About The Days,” “Isn’t It Time,” “Spring Vacation,” “Private Life Of Bill And Sue,” “Shelter,” “Daybreak Over The Ocean,” “Beaches In Mind,” “Strange World,” “My Life Suite,” and “Summer’s Gone.”

The Beach Boys’ collaborative approach to writing and recording their new music is evidenced throughout the album, with all of the band members participating to create its glorious harmonies, lyrics, and arrangements.

“We’ve come full circle,” says Al Jardine. “Sharing our memories and our present in the studio has been really remarkable. I can especially feel it when we’re all singing around the mic together, because we all hear each other and we really lock in.”

“We have reunited as a band, but we never ‘un-reunited’ as friends,” says Bruce Johnston. “To be back in the studio with these guys is like a prayer that’s been answered and I am thrilled to be sharing it with everybody.”

“This is more like a family reunion than anything,” says David Marks. “When we’re together, we get along great. The chemistry always works the same as the last time we were together, and the five of us become a single element.”

The Beach Boys’ 50th Anniversary tour, the band’s first major outing to include Brian Wilson in more than two decades, began this week in Tucson, Arizona, with further North American stops scheduled for the coming months. Also confirmed are dates throughout Europe, with details of an Australia, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong tour to be announced soon! All tour dates can be found at TheBeachBoys.com.

The Beach Boys and Capitol/EMI have also partnered for 50th Anniversary commemorative releases celebrating the band’s entire catalog, with a new hits collection and a career-spanning box set planned for later this year.

For five decades, America’s first pop band to reach the 50 year milestone has recorded and performed the music that has become the world’s favorite soundtrack to summer. Founded in Hawthorne, California in 1961, The Beach Boys were originally comprised of the three teenage Wilson brothers: Brian, Carl and Dennis, their cousin Mike Love, and school friend Al Jardine. In 1962, neighbor David Marks joined the group for their first wave of hits with Capitol Records, leaving in late 1963, and in 1965, Bruce Johnston joined the band when Brian Wilson retired from touring to focus on writing and producing for the group.

The Beach Boys signed with Capitol Records in July 1962 and released their first album, Surfin’ Safari, that same year. The album spent 37 weeks on the American Billboard chart, launching the young group known for its shimmering vocal harmonies and relaxed California style to international stardom. The Wilson/Love collaboration resulted in many huge international chart hits, and under Brian Wilson’s musical leadership, the band’s initial surf-rock focus was soon broadened to include other themes, making The Beach Boys one of the most preeminent bands of the 1960s.

In 1966, The Beach Boys were one of the first bands to found their own record label with the launch of Brother Records, Inc. (BRI), with the band’s members as its shareholders and Capitol Records as its distribution partner. BRI continues to manage The Beach Boys’ intellectual property, including the band’s catalog with Capitol/EMI and other label partners, as well as its name, logos, image and likeness.

The Beach Boys continue to hold Billboard / Nielsen SoundScan’s record as the top-selling American band for albums and singles, and they are also the American group with the most Billboard Top 40 chart hits (36). ‘Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys’ has achieved triple-Platinum sales status in the US. and ‘The SMiLE Sessions,’ released to worldwide critical acclaim in November 2011, was heralded as 2011’s #1 Reissue of the Year by US Rolling Stone magazine.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and recipients of The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award, The Beach Boys are an iconic global music institution.

No Plans

Cold Chisel’s first new studio album in 14 years ‘No Plans’ features 13 songs drawn from recording sessions across 2010 and 2011. The album features the final recorded performances by drummer Steve Prestwich who passed away in January 2011 and also one of his compositions 'I Got Things To Do'.

"In late 2009 the five of us made plans to record together again and do a tour," said frontman Jimmy Barnes. "After lots of twists and turns that's exactly what we've ended up doing but due to Steve's passing those plans changed a lot along the way. The last two years have reminded all of us that sometimes life deals up things you don't expect. You can't take anything or anyone for granted. Sometimes it's best to have no plans."

No Plans includes 'All For You' and 'HQ454 Monroe', two songs that Cold Chisel played on their record-breaking Light The Nitro Tour in 2011 and 11 previously unheard songs. The album will be preceded by the single 'Everybody', made available in late March.

No Plans will be released APRIL 6

DAVID BOWIE 40TH ANNIVERSARY 2012 REMASTER OF ‘THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS’.

Release Date: 1st June 2012

The release of a 40th anniversary edition of David Bowie’s truly groundbreaking and hugely influential album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars has been announced.

Originally released through RCA Victor on 6th June 1972, Ziggy Stardust was David Bowie’s fifth album, co-produced by Bowie and Ken Scott. Incredibly, the album was written whilst Bowie was recording 1971’s Hunky Dory album, with recording beginning a couple of months before that album’s release. It was recorded at Trident Studios, London between 8th November 1971 and 4th February 1972, with the line up: Mick Ronson (guitar, piano, backing vocals, string arrangements), Trevor Bolder (bass), Mick Woodmansey (drums), Rick Wakeman (keyboards) and backing vocals on ‘It Ain’t Easy’ by Dana Gillespie. As well as performing vocals, Bowie also played acoustic guitar, saxophone and harpsichord on the album and was involved in the arrangements too.

The album eventually peaked at #5 on the UK Album Chart on 22nd July having entered the chart at #15 on 1st July. Key to the album’s rise in the UK were the two TV performances of “Starman” on Granada TV’s Lift Off With Ayshea and nationally on the BBC’s Top Of The Pops. The album’s influence is immeasurable – it converted legions of fans, becoming the zeitgeist and a major influence on the next generation, particular those who were involved in the punk movement – musicians, artists, designers – and the subsequent re-birth of rock and pop.

Famously Bowie killed Ziggy at his peak at London’s Hammersmith Odeon, on July 3rd, 1973, though Ziggy Stardust’s influence was to redefine popular culture forever: pop music was never the same again.

This 40th anniversary edition has been remastered by original Trident Studios engineer Ray Staff (at London’s Air Studios). It will be available on CD and a special, limited edition format of vinyl featuring the new 2012 remaster with a 5.1 mix and high resolution audio on DVD – the DVD features previously unreleased 5.1 and stereo bonus 2003 Ken Scott mixes of Moonage Daydream (instrumental), The Supermen, Velvet Goldmine and Sweet Head.

Australian larrikin and game-show legend Ian “Turps” Turpie has died at the age of 68 following a short battle with oesophageal cancer.

Watch part of his most remembered hosting gig - The New Price Is Right in the 80s. Check out the hairstyles!

Born in Melbourne Turps began his entertainment career at the age of 10, when he was accepted at the Hector Crawford Drama School and gained recognition as a juvenile actor working in radio and theatre.

He starred in a number of radio programmes alongside Sir Robert Helpmann and June Bronhill, and featured in the top-rated radio series D24.

During his teens, Turps discovered a passion for music and focused on playing guitar, song writing and singing. By the age of 16, Turpie was a seasoned radio and stage performer, touring Australia in such hits as Peter Pan, Auntie Mame and Bye Bye Birdie, and appearing in several National Theatre Productions including Shakespeare's Macbeth.

He was an early boyfriend of Olivia Newton-John, with whom he had starred in the 1965 Australian musical telefilm Funny Things Happen Down Under, Newton-John's debut performance.

But it was in the 1980s that Turps gained his legendary status as host of the highly successful, frenzied game show The New Price Is Right. This was followed by other game shows including Press Your Luck and Supermarket Sweep.
In the 1990s, Ian developed cult status following a regular four-year stint as Club President on Roy & HG's Club Buggery. Known as the "Giant of the G Chord", he performed renditions of such classics as Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, and, complete with suspenders, The Rocky Horror Picture Show's Time Warp. Less serious Club Buggery appearances in Turps about the House, Captain Ajax and Sam Stain showcased his comedic talents.
On 18 February 2011 it was announced that Turps had been diagnosed with cancer. Turpie died on 11 March 2012, aged 68. Australia will miss him.

ACTOR and musician Davy Jones, who gained fame with the 1960s band The Monkees, has died in Florida at the age of 66.

The British-born singer, who formed the Monkees in 1966 with Micky
Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork, complained of trouble breathing,
according to CNN, and was taken to Martin Hospital South, where he was
pronounced dead.

"It is with great sadness that I reflect on the
sudden passing of my long-time friend and fellow-adventurer, David
Jones," Tork said in a Facebook posting.

"His talent will be much
missed; his gifts will be with us always. My deepest sympathy to Jessica
and the rest of his family. Adios, to the Manchester Cowboy."

The group's biggest hits included Daydream Believer, Last Train to Clarksville and I'm a Believer and few teens in the 60s were able to resist lustily singing their television show's theme song, Hey, Hey We're the Monkees.

Whitney Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown left her funeral after an alleged bust-up with a family member.
The ‘My Prerogative’ singer arrived at the service at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday (18.02.12) and walked up to her coffin and lovingly touched it.
Bobby was accompanied by an entourage of nine people who he wanted to sit with him in the family section of the congregation.
When he was told this wasn’t acceptable and they would have to be seated elsewhere he angrily stormed out with his group.

However, Bobby – whose 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina was sat directly behind her mother’s coffin with her grandmother Cissy Houston – later returned to the Baptist church on his own and was seen entering through a side-door.

Many of Whitney’s family have blamed Bobby – whose tumultuous 14-year marriage to the ‘My Love Is Your Love’ singer ended in divorce in April 2007 – for getting Whitney hooked on drugs. Her death on February 11 is believed to have been caused by a lethal mix of alcohol and prescription pills.

The funeral was led by the Pastor Joe Carter, while Whitney’s cousin Dionne Warwick introduced the speakers and musical performances.

Mourners included Kevin Costner, Clive Davis, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, Brandy and Jennifer Hudson.
