Woman Slashed With Knife In Melbourne Daylight Robbery
A man has slashed a woman's neck with a knife and stolen her purse in broad daylight after she refused to hand it over.
The woman, in her 30s, was walking near Inverleith Court in St Kilda about 3.30pm on November 29 when she was approached and attacked, before running home and alerting police.
Senior Constable Josh White, of the Port Phillip crime investigation unit, said the timing of the incident was "concerning".
"He demanded the purse, she refused and that's when he produced a small knife and cut her neck into her throat," he told 3AW on Wednesday.
The victim was left "traumatised" by the incident, but is keen to track down the offender.
Police have released an image of a suspect and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time.
He is described as 183cm tall, Caucasian, with short, dark hair and wearing a blue cap and grey t-shirt at the time.
